About SiS Immune
SiS Immune is designed to support and maintain function during and after exercise. As an effervescent tablet that readily dissolves in plain water, it represents a highly practical approach to support your immune system after exercise. Vitamin C (200mg) and Iron (2.5mg) are known to contribute to the maintenance of the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise in addition to your RDA.
Benefits of the SiS Immune
Heavy training is known to impact the immune system, suppressing it for 3-72 hours post-training. This can lead to a higher incidence of upper respiratory tract infections, impacting an athletes health and their ability to train. Excessive vitamin intake can suppress the training response. SiS Immune is designed to be at a level which supports athlete health without compromising training benefits. SiS Immune is tested under Informed Sport certification. This approach gives you confidence that SiS pay attention to detail and delivery high quality sports nutrition, whether you are an elite athlete or just trying to keep fit and healthy.
After prolonged or intense exercise use on tab in 500ml or water to support immune function as you rehydrate.
Risks of Exercise on the Immune System
Current research* has reported that various immune cell functions are temporarily impaired following prolonged, continuous heavy exercise. Endurance athletes engaged in intensive periods of training (e.g leading up to a marathon) appear to be more susceptible to minor infections. This is a concern for athletes and exercisers at all levels, as even minor infections can result in a drop in exercise performance and the ability to sustain heavy training. Sore throats and cold like symptoms are more common in athletes than in the general population and once infected, colds may last longer.
Immune System Post Exercise
Athletes commonly intensify their training at certain stages of the season. This overload may cause a temporary reduction in performance, but, following a taper with only light training, can result in an increase in performance for a particular event. The period of increased training is where the immune system is repressed, especially in the 3-72 hours immediately post heavy-exercise.
At these times, athletes are not fully immune deficient, but numerous aspects of the immune system are repressed. This does not put athletes in danger of serious illness, but it could increase the risk of catching Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI), which effects the nose, sinuses and throat.
Research on endurance athletes show a higher frequency of self-reported symptoms of URTI’s in athletes who had just completed long-distance running races. This was compared to runners who did not compete in the events. This suggests that endurance athletes are particularly susceptible to infections after competition, as well as high intensity training.
What can you do?
For endurance athletes, the key to avoiding an impaired immune system is allowing your body time to recover after high intensity, prolonged exercise. Paying attention to your post-exercise nutrition can help maintain the normal function of the immune system. SiS Immune provides essential nutrients to help support the immune system, including:
1.200mg of Vitamin C has been shown to help maintain the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise
2.Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
3.2.5mg of Iron contributes to the normal function of the immune system and helps the process of cell division
